Detroit Congresswoman Condemns Israel For Lethal ED-209 Malfunction

The ‘Lethal Exchange’ reports claimed American police departments learned brutal tactics from the Israeli security apparatus.

Detroit, June 6 – Democratic Lawmaker Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) asserted today that the Jewish State and its malign influence are to blame for a law enforcement brutality incident this week in which a junior executive of the conglomerate running the city’s police department met a grisly end when a police robot prototype demonstrating a disarming procedure failed to register that the executive had, in fact, rid himself of the firearm he was wielding, and proceeded to riddle his body with bullets.

Tlaib made the accusation at a press conference in advance of the funeral of a Omni Consumer Products board member named Kinney. “The connections between brutal Israeli policies and American police brutality are well-documented,” she stated, referring to a long-debunked series of reports that purported to link excessive American law enforcement violence, especially against minorities, with IDF operations to suppress violent riots by Palestinians. “My Palestinian relatives and friends are unfortunately all too familir with this phenomenon.”

In the incident, the Enforcement Droid series 209 unit was brought to the OCP boardroom to showcase the new product’s ability to replace human police officers. The production team leader, a Dr. McNamara, decided on an arrest scenario; Executive Vice President Dick Jones drafted Kinney to serve as the arrest subject, and handed the younger man a handgun to point at ED-209. The robot spoke to Kinney and warned him to drop his weapon within several seconds, which the executive soon did.

However, the ED-209 malfunctioned and did not perceive Kinney’s disposal of the gun. Several more seconds of warnings culminated in the droid emptying the magazines of its twin 20mm cannons into Kinney; the machine then overheated and shut down.

Tlaib leveled the accusation flanked by representatives of organizations including Jewish Voice for Peace, Btselem, Amnesty International, and Students for Justice in Palestine, all of whom contributed work on a campaign called Lethal Exchange – claiming that American police departments learned brutal tactics from the Israeli security apparatus in various programs to acquaint the two countries’ personnel with one another. In practice, the training involved nothing related to subduing suspects or riot control; participants recalled surveillance and counterterrorism intelligence-gathering techniques. The NGOs’ tendentious inaccuracies have not tempered Tlaib’s or other progressives’ enthusiasm for citing their work.

The Congresswoman also denounced OCP’s declared intention to launch its contingency RoboCop program now that the ED-209 units have proved unreliable. She called the backup program just as problematic, and accused OCP of oppressing Palestinians.
