“Really, we should expect millions of Americans to be fleeing, since the place is so awful.”
New York, August 23 – Anti-racism activists worried today that the throngs of non-Americans attempting to enter the country via illegal crossings of the border with Mexico might not be aware, in the same way the activists are aware, that the country is a hairsbreadth away from rounding up all nonwhite, non-cisgender people and throwing them into exterminations camps, brutalizing them all along the way.
Progressive New Yorkers and several allies from other parts of the country shared their concerns today with journalists that the millions of migrants entering the US have no idea that the US is the greatest violator of human rights, the most racist society, the most hatred-plagued country on the planet, and otherwise comprehensively evil and exploitative – facts that the progressives have known for a long time, but that perhaps the migrants have not heard.
“I’m worried for them,” admitted Jenna Marx, a Brooklyn activist. “They clearly have no idea what they’re getting themselves into. Imagine leaving your home because of famine, civil war, gang violence, or whatever, and paying dearly to be smuggled into the US. Where are these people getting their information? Who’s telling them that the US is a good place for them to live? Relatives and friends who made it here? That couldn’t be. We know those relatives would see the awful truth.”
“Must be right-wing misinformation,” offered Linda Frekha, of Vermont. “Really, we should expect millions of Americans to be fleeing, since the place is so awful, and maybe taking up residence in one of the authentic indigenous paradises that all those migrants seem to be coming from. But that would be appropriation, so it’s understandable that Americans stay here, even the ones who came from those paradises and now know better.”
“Me, I stay because someone has to raise awareness of how racist and awful this place is,” explained Marx. “How else are people going to know?”
“Also it’s a complex issue,” added Stephen Alinsky, who traveled from Portland, Oregon, to protest the efforts by border states to move some migrants to those farther north. “I’m actively looking for a place that has free-trade espresso as readily-available as here, but isn’t also a racist capitalist patriarchy. Ideally, I would also go from country to country where the migrants originate and educate them on just how evil and corrupt the US – really, the entire West – is, and that they would be better off remaining in their indigenous, and we would have to assume tolerant, non-patriarchal societies where trans people of color can be themselves.”
