Band Instagram Page Clearly Run By Bassist’s Mom

Kiryat Bialik, January 19 – Visitors to the online location of a local ensemble’s principal social media presence have viewed its contents and determined that in contrast to the prevailing assumption that the group uses the medium to promote itself as a group, to showcase its talent, to inform followers of venues and dates, and to maintain engagement with the public, in fact it appears that whoever administers the account has chosen instead to focus on images and other content involving the bass player and how charmingly handsome he is, indicating that it’s probably his mother.

Steinway Jacuzzi, the latest incarnation of a quartet of high-school-age boys who have jammed together on and off since about seventh grade in and around this Haifa suburb, has an Instagram Page to publicize its exploits, but whoever maintains the Page seems to prefer to highlight bassist Omer Giladi in the vast majority of the photos and video clips, replete with complimentary remarks on his talent and appearance, when such content featuring the other three members – Oded Schein, Nati Ben-Shemen, and Shai Golan, the lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist, backup vocalist/lead guitarist, and drummer/backup vocalist, respectively – appears far less often, leading observers to speculate that Giladi’s mother Tamar runs the Page.

“Omer doesn’t like the whole marketing side of things, so it’s obviously not his direct doing, and he’s actually kind of shy,” explained Shahar Azoulai, who admitted she has casually dated two of the band members, but declined to disclose which. “The other guys, if they could be bothered to maintain a proper Page, would clearly not make him the poster child. He’s not exactly bad-looking, but Nati and Oded are really the charismatic ones and, if you ask me, the only ones with genuine talent. It’s not anyone professional maintaining that Page. Omer doesn’t have a sibling who might be the culprit, which leaves his mom as the chief suspect. I like her. She’s sweet. But this is… weird.”

“At first I thought it was a big joke at Omer’s expense,” recalled classmate Shani Almog. “Almost none of the photos of him are flattering. But the captions all call attention to his ‘dashing’ looks and other positive stuff. Shai is the joker, so it could have been him behind the gag. But the photo angles often show Shai as well in the background, which means that someone else is taking them. So Omer’s mother it is.”

A new set of photos, most of them depicting Giladi’s guitar pick set from various angles, included captions praising his taste in colors.
