Europe: Muslims Should Leave Killing Of Jews To Us

Paris, June 7 – The aftermath of the fatal shootings in a Belgian Jewish Museum two weeks ago by a Muslim with French citizenship has the Continent’s far right in an uproar, as the anti-immigrant, antisemitic groups in question believe the task of massacring Jews is best handled by them.

Mehdi Nemmouche, 29, who also carries Algerian citizenship, is suspected of shooting and killing four people at the museum on May 24. Nemmouche allegedly spent time fighting for an Islamist militia in Syria, gaining familiarity with weapons and terrorist tactics he apparently employed in planning and executing his attack in the Belgian capital. If true, the allegations carry worrisome implications for a continent that once excelled at destroying its Jews en masse, but in recent years has largely left the work to less experienced countries in the Middle East and North Africa.

“We must reassert our historic supremacy in this important field,” said Bestu Killemal, a leader of the Hungarian party Jobbik. “Europe has unfortunately fallen under the sway of namby-pamby liberals in its thinking of late. Our aim has to be the restoration of this civilization’s consistency in persecuting, taxing, bullying, expelling, and simply killing the Jew.” No other civilization has come close, he added, and it is pathetic that Europe has allowed upstart nations run by “towel-heads” to even think they could supplant Europe as the premier slaughterhouse for Jews.

Two deadly attacks on Jews have taken place in the last two years in France and Belgium, though hundreds of other non-fatal incidents have also occurred on European soil during that time. The number represents a far cry from the heyday of European antisemitism, when Christian villagers could be whipped into a murderous frenzy and sent to pillage, rape, and destroy a nearby shtetl, and culminating in the Holocaust, when the Nazis could count on willing collaborators to conduct significant portions of the torture and killing. Moreover, the two more recent attacks that did prove fatal were perpetrated by Muslims, representing what the far right sees as an embarrassing dereliction of its legacy.

Various factors explain Europe’s declining role in the murder of Jews, but that does not fully excuse the lack of effort, says historian Einsatz Gruppen. “The diligence with which the Final Solution was carried out had the unexpected result of generating international sympathy for Jews, and that made it difficult to undertake any such large scale extermination efforts after World War Two. But the Arab world is less encumbered by such notions. so they have been trying to close the gap in the ensuing decades, though with limited success.” He added that Arabs have never shown the single-minded devotion to Jew-killing that Europeans have repeatedly demonstrated over the last 2000 years, preferring to slaughter one another, which Gruppen takes as even more evidence of European cultural superiority.

Experts differ on whether Europe stands a chance of reclaiming its position as the most dangerous place in the world for Jews, as far more Jews are killed every year in Israel than anywhere else.
