“Those are totally real. If you don’t believe that, you’re Islamophobic.”
London, October 30 – Activists dismissing the copious documentation of Hamas atrocities in southern Israel three weeks ago as fabricated or exaggerated – much of that documentation from the Palestinian perpetrators themselves – think you should take at face value the photos and clips of dead and suffering children in other conflict zones that the activists have recaptioned as coming from IDF operations.
Online personalities who traffic in the denial or “contextualization” of the Hamas-led massacres on October 7, which killed 1400 and injured over 5,000, with more than 230 abducted into the Gaza Strip, amid torture, gang rape, burning, and mutilation, expect you to accept without a critical thought that the ten-year-old images of destruction from Idlib, Aleppo, or elsewhere in Syria under Putin’s or Assad’s bombing actually captured recent events in Gaza.
Some of the pictures they insist you believe come from the last several weeks in Gaza did originate in Gaza, but in 2014 or earlier, and even then, many were staged. An exception involved a short clip that CNN aired, showing a morgue piled with bodies, one of which moved to get more comfortable. The activists who filmed and shared the clip accuse “Zionists” of fabricating the copious body-cam footage, first responder testimony, journalistic documentation, and other eyewitness and forensic evidence establishing the scale and brutality of the Palestinian invasion and pogrom on October 7.
The propagandists, who employ crisis actors to generate outrage against Israel’s actions to neutralize Hamas positions embedded among civilians, claim that Israel staged the atrocities. Hamas leaders themselves offer contradictory statements, depending on whether they wish to claim glory – when they boast that their mighty fighters humiliated the Zionist enemy – or evade shame from Western interviewers, when they deflect blame to ordinary Gaza Palestinians, but never deny that mass rape, torture, or looting took place on a horrific scale. “You see that because the Jews control the media,” the propagandists argue. “It’s all fake,” unlike the photos of Gaza children in photos of such flagrantly contrived scenes amid ruins that only the most dimwitted will believe them real.
“The Jews faked the Holocaust,” the like of reasoning goes, “to gain sympathy to steal Palestine from the Palestinians. All that evidence the Germans themselves kept is faked or blown out of proportion. Not like this girl who appears in three separate photos, each one showing her being pulled from the wreckage of a different building, and all while wearing the same outfit. Also her doll is always lying in the foreground of the photo. Those are totally real. If you don’t believe that, you’re Islamophobic.”
