“If ‘Palestine’ isn’t a fully-formed state, there shouldn’t be a problem aborting it.”
Washington, June 5 – Diplomatic efforts to shore up American backing for the Jewish State’s war against the terrorist group Hamas saw their success spike this week, once representatives for the military and political echelons hit on the idea of referring to casualties among the enemy by a term that echoes the sensibilities of a vocal portion of the electorate that sees the right to kill a fetus as non-negotiable.
Officials from Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and from the Office of the Prime Minister disclosed yesterday that recent expressions of support for Israel’s Gaza operations has increased among stalwart members of the Democratic Party now that, as of two weeks ago, the officials organs of the Jewish State have begun referring to Palestinian deaths in Gaza as “late-late-term abortions.” Freedom to perform abortions at any stage of development has long stood at the center of Democratic Party principles.
“We should have though of this years ago,” acknowledged former spokesman Eylon Levy. “Obviously, getting the facts out there is important, and debunking our enemies’ lies must happen. But there’s a level on which words have an effect far beyond their specific content. Context matters. When we start calling the deaths in Gaza late-late-term abortions, that triggers an understanding among hardcore Democrats that we think the same way about these things.”
Polls indicate strong bipartisan support for Israel in the US. Vocal agitation from extreme elements within both major parties have created some impression of erosion of support for Israel, but the needle has not shifted in any appreciable way; if anything, since October 7 of last year, it has solidified in Israel’s favor. However, influential opponents of Israel in the ruling Democratic party have impacted American policy in ways detrimental to Israel’s prosecution of the war against Hamas and its main sponsor Iran. The need to engage more robust support from rank-and-file Democrats sparked the terminological shift, which is paying off in measure greater than expected, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs numbers.
“I’d like to take credit for it,” joked Ministry spokeswoman Hera Yon. “It’s a solid idea on the grander scale as well: if ‘Palestine’ isn’t a fully-formed state, there shouldn’t be a problem aborting it no matter when. But it wasn’t my idea, unfortunately. I wish I could say who, specifically suggested it, but we don’t have a record of it. For all we know, it was some random satire site on the internet.”
