By Harriet Tubman
It’s tough here, on the Underground Railroad, but this is the struggle I’ve chosen, and this is my mission. I rely on many others to succeed, and it’s truly a shame that I’ll have to wait decades for opponents of Jewish sovereignty in the ancestral Jewish homeland to co-opt my cause while pretending they’re helping.
The multiple secret trips I’ve undertaken to free family and friends from the clutches of slaveholders could never work absent the logistical, emotional, financial, and other support of many, many noble actors. Quaker sympathizers, white abolitionists, black freedmen, and anyone willing to look aside if the price is right – all those folks play a key role. I sure am frustrated, though, that we don’t have a Linda Sarsour or an Ali Abunimah explaining to us how we have to oppose Zionism if we want to truly free ourselves.
Imagine the difference in outcome if abolitionist voices had instead railed against Jewish, I mean Zionist money controlling American politics. You know, really appealing to the American people’s emotions where it would resonate most. In your mind’s eye, visualize the different scene from what I face right now: whereas at the moment I have to engage in disguise, stealth, bribery, persuasion, and cunning to free my brothers and sisters from the living death of eternal servitude, if I had an alliance with anti-Zionists I would only have to engage in disguise, stealth, bribery, persuasion, and cunning to free my brothers and sisters from the living death of eternal servitude, but with less money available for the purpose since so much has been allocated instead to fighting the Zionist scourge.
I can see it now: send the freed slaves to Palestine – wait, we don’t call it that yet; it’s still ‘The Holy Land’ – to oppose the Zionists, ready to preempt them when they start getting political ideas in a few decades. Forget the Canadian border; we gotta get these fugitive slaves across the Atlantic and Mediterranean where they can wait around in a wasteland that will remain desolate until the Zionists come in and start turning it into a livable, prosperous place. Perfect. Now we just have to convince all these people of color to get on vessels to take them back across the ocean their ancestors crossed on slave ships, to a part of the world where the non-African population routinely refers to those of African ancestry as “‘Abeed,” “slave.”
It’s all in the solidarity. It’s just too bad such solidarity is unavailable in the 1850’s and 60’s. Such a misfortune.
