by Abu Obeida, Hamas spokesman
Gaza City, February 4 – Last week’s scene at the release of Arbel Yehud underscores a fact that many miss, but which plays an important role in the regional dynamic: nothing Israel or its supporters say or do, no matter how oppressive and demeaning to Palestinians, comes close to what Palestinian actions accomplish in terms of making Palestinians look more like animals than like people. Pathetic Zionists.
If Zionists were not so weak, they could dehumanize us to a degree they have never even tried to reach. All the “genocide” rhetoric notwithstanding, I cannot point to a single Israeli policy or decision that dehumanized Palestinians more than our own behavior has. Perhaps the Zionist inability stems from cowardice, perhaps from inborn or cultivated ineptitude. Either way, Palestinians continue to prove their robustness at achievements that Zionists can never hope to attain.
Decades of calling us “terrorists” and “brutes” can only accomplish so much. Especially when much of the world is predisposed to side against Jews and disregard or defend the terrorism and brutality in question. But a single morning of a mob of men a hairsbreadth from lynching an Israeli woman forced to walk the gantlet on her way to the Red Cross Hostage-Uber Service showed the world in just a few images and short video clips a far more monstrous picture of Palestinian society than a hundred years of Zionists calling us what we are.
That is the power of Palestine.
In truth, this disparity in dehumanization-of-Palestinians prowess reflects the broader phenomenon of the Jews never perpetrating the level of suffering and cruelty that – though we accuse them of it night and day, even before the advent of Zionism – we inflict on our fellow Muslims and Arabs, and they on us. Israel doesn’t keep us in squalid camps; Lebanon and Syria do. Israel never attempted to overthrow the Hashemites in Jordan, sparking murderous repression and expulsion; Palestinians did.
No wonder we consider the Zionist regime weak and always on the brink of collapse. They cannot even dehumanize us properly!
You would think that Jews, who themselves experienced dehumanization under the Nazis and their collaborators – quiet, you, stop denying the Holocaust, the main reason we Palestinians admire Hitler so much – might learn a thing or two from their oppressors. But they’re so bad at it. We Palestinians under Mufti Husseini were only marginally, if enthusiastically, involved in Nazi repressions, but we learned right quick.
Pathetic Zionists.
